| Polaris Venture Partners Closes $1 Billion Diversified Fund, Appoints New General Partners |

Waltham, MA March 6, 2006 - Jon Flint and Terry McGuire, founders and managing partners of Polaris Venture Partners, today announced the closing of Polaris Venture Partners V (PVP V), a $1 billion diversified venture capital fund.
As with earlier funds, PVP V investments will be diversified by both markets and stage. Polaris invests in companies in life sciences (biopharma, drug delivery, services, consumer), digital media, information technology, E-commerce products and services, communications, energy technology, and consumer products and services. Polaris invests from the seed stage through growth equity, which includes minority growth investments, recapitalization with liquidity and leveraged buyouts.
Polaris also announced the appointments of four new general partners and their focus areas: Bob Geiman, communications and growth equity; Bryce Youngren, growth equity; Peter Flint, portfolio recruiting; and Simeon Simeonov, information technology.
PVP V partners also include Alan Spoon, David Barrett, Brian Chee, John Gannon, Mike Hirshland and Bob Metcalfe.
